History, colours and scents
Monastiraki, a stone’s throw away from the Acropolis, is one of the most vibrant spots in Athens. It is located in the north side of the Acropolis and close to Syntagma square. It is a colourful neighborhood brimming with historical monuments (e.g. the Athenian Agora), shops, rooftop hotels offering amazing Acropolis views, and tiny tavern restaurants, perfect to indulge into the traditional Greek or ethnic cuisine.
Monastiraki Flea Market, open every day, is where the heart of this amazing district beats. Here, you will find numerous shops selling clothes, Greek sandals, souvenirs, jewellery and more! The most special part in Monastiraki is Avissinias Square (nestled between Ifestou and Ermou streets), where the actual bazaar in Monastiraki takes place, with vendors selling rare items and antiques.
