LOCATION

An exceptional neoclassical mansion located in Kolonaki, one of the classiest Athens districts. A five minute walk from Panepistimio metro station, Monsieur Didot is situated in a quiet alley surrounded by theatres, museums, publishing houses and historic bookstores, as well as countless cafés, bars, restaurants and boutiques of renowned European fashion houses. Syntagma Square and Exarchia are also very close, making Monsieur Didot a perfect accommodation option for those who want to stay in the vibrant heart of Athens!

DESIGN

The former residence of a distinguished family dating back to 1880 was transformed into a boutique hotel! BaBatchas design studio focusing on detail create a whimsical mixture of neoclassical elements and contemporary finishes that reflect the multidimensional character of Athens. The outside of the hotel exudes the simplicity and elegance of the old Athenian houses, with the pale blue and earthy tones emphasizing the beauty of this neoclassical house. The elaborate curved marble is the main decorative element of the façade. As for the interior, it is luxurious yet effortless, from the impressive entrance and the wooden stairs, to the natural materials and exotic plants offering guests a feeling of well-being and coziness. Wood materials blend with white, while the simple design pieces have a leading role in the rooms that are bathed in sunlight all day long.

ROOMS

This impressive residence features 6 rooms and suites, whereas guests can book the whole first floor transforming it into a private apartment, with three rooms and a communal cozy sitting area.

OUR FAVOURITE ROOM
Among the particular characteristics of Monsieur Didot, is the fact that each room and suite is completely different from every other. Nevertheless, our top pick was “The Sonnet of the Secret Door” (room 04.), with the carved marble fireplace and the impressive bookcase used as a secret door to the elegant bathroom! Another amazing pick is “The Ode of the Light” (room 06.) featuring a private terrace allowing natural sunlight to enter every corner of its amazing bathroom! This room has a quite different design, characterized by prominent urban aesthetics.

BREAKFAST

Monsieur Didot offers freshly-made a la cart breakfast with homemade choices. Guests can enjoy it either at the terrace or at the comfort of their room. Personalised service for those wishing to enjoy vegan and gluten-free options is also available.

GOOD TO KNOW

• All rooms are smoke-free.
• The reception is open until 20:00.
• Housed in an old, neoclassical building, the hotel does not feature and elevator.
• Guests can borrow the book of their preference from one of the bookcases. Novels and other books written about Athens and the rest of Greece are, of course, recommended.
