LOCATION
Moon and Stars is a family business run by Theodore and Vaso, situated in Τhissio, a stone’s throw away from the Ancient Agora and the Temple of Hephaestus. The great location in the heart of historic center of Athens offers endless possibilities for guests to explore the many great restaurants, exciting bars, shopping gems and hidden corners. Thissio square is right on the doorstep, while you can also explore the picturesque neighbourhood of Plaka and the vibrant Psirri, with its fabulous selection of typical restaurants and bars, just a short walk away. The hotel is also conveniently located for access both to Thissio railway station and Monastiraki metro station.
DESIGN
An abandoned art-deco building dating back to 1920 was the place where Theodore and Vaso decided to create a home away from home. The ground floor was bought by Sir Dimitris Vlastaris as he decided that this was the right place to settle and build his house on the 1st floor and his wood-toy workshop on the ground floor. Τhe difficult project, in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Culture, was carried out by Vaso Adamou, who was the architect behind the reconstruction and renovation that finished in 2020. The hotel’s building has been sensitively renovated with sustainability in mind. To give the room's character, the couple has added recycled old pieces of wood, marble and tiles. To ensure guests are comfortable, each guest room is light, bright and filled with fresh air giving off a homey atmosphere.

OUR FAVOURITE ROOM
The Music box suite which originally was used as the living room of the house. This comfortable spacious open plan 45m2 room, that can accommodate up to three guests, is characterised by high ceilings make the space super luxurious while large windows facing an ancient church provide fresh air and light. A super king size bed ensures a restful sleep, while a desk-office area provides space for working or dining. A large en suite shower with mosaic and herringbone tiles adds elegance and style. However, for those who prefer a room with a balcony we propose Cloud 9. This 17m2 room on the terrace of the building offers immediate access to a 150-square-meter shared terrace with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis. The private outdoor bathtub with Acropolis view is another plus of this beautiful room.
BREAKFAST
You will wake up to a delicious Greek-style breakfast served in your room. It features local products, including honey and peanut butter from Attica, as well as thick, creamy Greek yoghurt and seasonal fruits. You can simply tick off what you like and when you’d like it and conveniently clip it to your door before going to sleep. TIP: Being able to have breakfast on the roof terrace with a stunning Acropolis view, when the weather permits, is an added bonus!
• The privileged location of the building offers spectacular views towards the hills of Acropolis and the Temple of Hephaestus.
• Get a real vintage taste of the city with a classic Fiat 500 tour. The owners drive you to the best places the city has to show. This really unique experience is available only for guests upon request.
• Don’t miss the view from the terrace. It is ideal for relaxation from early in the morning under the sun, a refreshing dip into the outdoor bathtub accompanied by a glass of wine during the sunset.
• There is not an elevator because of the architecture of the building, but the kind staff will definitely help you with the baggage.
• Although the hotel is located on a busy street near Thissio station, all the rooms have double glazed windows.
• There is a small countryard for guests to relax during the day.
• The welcome treat alongside a handwritten note and the jazz music playing when you walked in the room are some nice details.
• The host Theodore will give you amazing insider tips of the city.
• Small pets are accepted only in the Cloud 9, on the roof garden.
• There are a lot of private parking areas in the nearby area.
