As a fan of the Ace Hotel brand, having already stayed at their locations in Los Angeles and New York, I was thrilled to discover Ace hotel & Swim Club, their latest venture in Greece. Nestled in Glyfada, along the Athens Riviera, this place has a unique vibe—it’s unmistakably Ace but infused with the breezy elegance of the Mediterranean. From the moment I arrived, I felt transported, as if I were in Miami or Palm Springs, but with a distinctly Greek charm.
A REIVENTED ICON
Built on the foundation of the iconic Fenix Hotel, the Ace Hotel Athens beautifully blends heritage with innovation. The Brutalist architecture has been reimagined with modern, organic touches by the renowned French architecture firm Ciguë. Inside, the spaces feel alive with local culture, thanks to thoughtful design elements like custom furnishings by Greek-Egyptian designer Salma Barakat and Ace’s signature in-room turntables and guitars.
A DIGITAL NOMAD’S PARADISE
For those of us who juggle work and wanderlust, the Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens is a dream. Grab a coffee from Good Chemistry before heading into the thoughtfully designed spaces, perfect for digital nomads to work and unwind. Whether you’re catching up on emails in the art-filled lobby or brainstorming by the pool, the environment inspires creativity.
The on-site restaurant, Sebastian, is a gem for a quiet lunch break. Its French-American bistro menu is crafted with fresh, seasonal ingredients and pairs beautifully with their curated natural wines.
After 4 PM, the Lobby Bar becomes a lively meeting spot, ideal for catching up with friends or winding down after a productive day.
During my visit to this stunning spot, the weather was perfect – one of those sunny early-November days that Greece knows how to deliver. The outdoor pool was a hub of relaxation, with some guests even taking a dip!
What makes this place even more special? The pool isn’t just for hotel guests; non-guests are welcome to soak up the serenity too. Whether you’re diving in or lounging poolside, it’s a slice of paradise open to everyone.
Looking ahead, I can’t wait to return in 2025 when the highly anticipated rooftop restaurant and lounge opens. With promises of breathtaking views and a dreamy ambiance, it’s bound to offer even more reasons to linger.

What makes Ace Hotel Athens stand out is its seamless integration into the local community. The art program, curated in collaboration with Mare Studio, showcases the vibrant creative spirit of Athens. From murals and mosaics to sculptures, every corner of the hotel feels like a gallery. Even beneath the pool, you’ll find Zoe Paul’s striking mural adding an unexpected layer of artistry.
