Although Marblous and Astikon House stand directly on Voulis Street, just steps from Syntagma Square and right off Mitropoleos, and share the same ownership, they represent two completely different worlds for both their creators and the guests who choose them. These sister properties may be neighbours, but their personalities, design identities, and guest experiences couldn’t be more distinct. We put both Marblous and Astikon under the microscope, explored every detail, and now present their key differences. The choice is yours…
HISTORY & HERITAGE
Marblous opened its doors in 2021, while Astikon followed in 2024, each carrying its own architectural legacy. Marblous leans toward a more urban, city-hotel feel, whereas Astikon embraces a neoclassical, boutique aesthetic with a warmer, more intimate atmosphere. Marblous spans six floors, while Astikon is housed in a three-floor building, adding to its cozy, small-scale character.
SCALE & STRUCTURE
Marblous offers 25 rooms and operates with its own reception, creating a lively city-hotel rhythm. Astikon, on the other hand, features only 13 rooms and does not have a dedicated reception, something that enhances its home-like feel, with all services seamlessly managed by the Marblous team across the street. Marblous includes rooms that can comfortably host 3–4 guests, ideal for friends and small families. Astikon is primarily double rooms, with more spacious interiors overall. Marblous also allows for twin bed setup, while Astikon does not offer this option.
DESIGN & ATMOSPHERE
Marblous expresses a more feminine, soft identity with marble, pale salmon tones and a playful, vibe-driven energy, especially around its street-level bistro. Astikon is defined by deeper senape hues, wood, a more cosmopolitan spirit, and a classic city elegance. While Marblous feels lively and social, Astikon feels serene and understated, helped by excellent soundproofing, the absence of check-in traffic, and the lack of a busy bistro at the entrance. Access also differs. Astikon operates with a door code system while Marblous has a traditional reception and operates with direct guest assistance.
ROOFTOP & BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE
One of the most defining differences is the rooftop. Astikon features a charming rooftop open to guests throughout the day, where breakfast is also served (07:00–10:30) in a relaxed, elevated setting. Guests can enjoy a complimentary coffee machine available 24/7. At Marblous, breakfast takes place (07:00–13:00) in the buzzing street-level bistro, adding to its energetic, urban feel. The menu is entirely à la carte. Astikon on the other hand combines a small curated buffet with a choice of à la carte dishes. After 13:00, Marblous does not serve coffee, while Astikon maintains all-day access thanks to its rooftop facilities.
GUEST PROFILES
Marblous tends to attract a more female-oriented audience, thanks to its softer aesthetic, a few thoughtful in-room treats (such as small surprises or cosmetic amenities), and its social, lively vibe. Astikon appeals more to couples and travellers seeking privacy, calmness, and a boutique, home-like feel.
TWO PROPERTIES, ONE STREET, TWO UNIVERSES
Despite sharing ownership and location, Marblous and Astikon prove that two hotels can offer completely different experiences. One is vibrant, urban, and social; the other intimate, refined, and quietly cosmopolitan. So far, their guest ratings reflect their quality, both hovering close to 9.0–9.1, though this naturally changes over time. Their pricing is currently aligned as well.
The question is simple: Which world would you choose?
