OKUPA is a very special hosting experience in Athens and it has just arrived! It boasts a worth mentioning design and an eye towards the future's traveller -the multicultural wanderer, as they put it-, rather than the traditional visitor. But this is no ordinary lodge for someone who just wants to spend the night! In fact, this brand new hotel is unique in town because it may boast of having a perfectly conceptual orientation other than... accommodating! What is that? Networking, co-working, relaxing, getting inspired, creating and socializing! This accommodation is a distinctive category on its own. First, it is an urban hub, where one can even spend the night! It is equipped with many outstanding areas, allowing guests to work, take a break to listen to music, join a meeting, enjoy a drink or the open-air. Most importantly, all these spaces are open to all, regardless of whether they are guests or not!
OKUPA is conveniently located on the borderline of two very popular and widely known neighborhoods of the Capital. On one hand, there is Kerameikos district, which is the epitome of urban neighborhood, next to the Benaki museum of Islamic Art. On the other hand the Psirri neighborhood is vibrant and well-known for the bars and cultural events that take place there. In reality OKUPA is situated just 5 minutes on foot from Asomaton sq. and the famous Ermou str. with all its commercial stores. Furthermore, Thissio Metro Station is just 7’ on foot, while Kerameikos and Metaxourgio Metro Stations are around 12’ away. From there you can easily and conveniently move around the city. In brief, it is situated within walking distance of all major sights and places of interest.
In terms of design, we are dealing with a former industrial building, turned into an imposing corner residence. Its contemporary exterior foreshadows the modern interior, with the colorful, pop style layout. As a result, the ensemble of vintage and custom-made furniture, many of which are attributed to the iconic designers Van Der Rohe and Marcel Breuer, comes as no surprise. However it is complemented by works from local artists' work decorating the walls. This feels like a celebration! And what else is there to celebrate, but the hotel's unique concept of getting together? Fashionable and stylish, this lodging is an urban oasis with sleek design and vibrant energy.
Featuring 32 rooms of pop aesthetics, distinguished in various types, these spaces are bright and colourful, designed to cheer you up, no matter what! They can accommodate solo travelers, groups or couples, and are ideal for short stays or business trips. The floor-to-ceiling windows dominate the rooms and have an immediate impact, giving you the urge to get out on the balcony, under the shining Athenian sky! Beds can be referred as “super thick” and “comfy”.

OUR FAVOURITE ROOM
We mostly appreciated the Penthouse with Terrace & Acropolis View, a large suite with distinctive pop décor that sets a cheerful tone. This room features a library and a desk, which can come handy if a job has to be done! Moreover, here you can enjoy premium amenities, including, but not limited to, a projector, a vinyl player, a portable retro speaker, a lavish bathroom with a bathtub. Lastly, we were astonished by the spacious terrace with an exclusive view of Acropolis.
Breakfast is served from 07:30 up to 10:30 and you can enjoy delicious options, whether you choose to savor the buffet or the à la carte menu, both at your disposal. Either way, guests describe it as great, with with tons of tasty options.
The lobby offers an all-day restaurant & café, which transforms into a cocktail bar by evening. This central area of the hotel, known as 'the social area,' has quickly become a hotspot for Athens residents, placing the city on par with global destinations like London and New York. It’s the go-to spot for locals to enjoy business lunches, dinners, or drinks after work. Designed for mingling and engaging, you can enjoy a conversation with new people or indulge in an unexpected soundtrack emerging from the audiophile corner. A vibrant space where Athens' social scene comes alive, day or night.
On the rooftop, you can enjoy the Athenian sky by the swimming pool which offers a glimpse of the Acropolis! However, that area is unavailable from October to May.
They call it “the library” and it is a cosy spot where comfortable sofas predominate, but it is not meant for relaxation, at least not only. On the mezzanine you can take advantage of a library, a co-working space and a meeting room for 8 up to 10 people, all designed to allow you to focus and work. Hence, there are reading corners with a thoughtfully curated selection of books and magazines. Also, at the library, you can isolate yourself in one of the two soundproof phone booths. Inside, you can take a personal or corporate call with privacy, or just express yourself... as if you were home alone!
Are you an art enthusiast, a music fan, or a culture lover? Perhaps a food connoisseur or a digital nomad who appreciates great co-working spaces? Whatever your passion, Okupa has everything to meet your needs, making it a place you’ll want to return to again and again. While it might seem ideal for solo travelers, particularly remote workers, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the couples who have enjoyed its comfortable stay, splendid location, and vibrant social atmosphere. From workshops and cultural activities to connecting with locals and engaging with the community, this spot offers a truly enriching experience.
