The “Diamond,” the neoclassical hotel located at 23 Voulis Street, is set to open its doors on April 15th with a new name Astikon House and an entirely new style…
This architectural gem will transform into 13 rooms that seamlessly blend colonial aesthetics with the luxury of the neoclassical era. The interior exudes the charm of old times, with every detail being meticulously handcrafted, creating a unique space reminiscent of a luxurious residence rather than a hotel. Services such as reception, check in and concierge will be provided by its sibling, The Marblous. The rooftop, the absolute highlight, promises to be an oasis for the residents. The name still remains a mystery, adding an air of anticipation and curiosity…
Inspired by colonial architectural styles and the unique atmosphere, Astikon House aims to combine neoclassical elements with the glamour and luxury sought by 19th-century travelers, adapted to the contemporary 21st-century era.
According to the studio of Architecture STOA, “the existing neoclassical morphological background of the rooms will be complemented by a palette of colors, textures, and objects from various parts of the world, primarily of oriental aesthetics”. Ιmagine a traveler from the early 20th century exploring places like India, Algeria, Vietnam, South Africa, and bringing back a piece of its adventure every time.
The existing neoclassical architectural elements, such as high hand-painted gold plaster ceilings and plaster flutings resembling columns, are transformed and highlighted through their correlation with senapy-colored velvet curtains, square bathroom tiles, dark wood, black and white minimal wide stripes, tan leather, red marble, black and bronze metallic details, and African geometric patterns. The result? A new cosmopolitan identity and atmosphere in the heart of Athens. Coming soon…
