It goes without a doubt that, since Athens has been transformed into the ultimate city-break destination, a glorious road has opened for the rise of boutique hotels. These hotels have nothing to be envy of the ones stealing the stage in modern cities of the world. One of these boutique hotels is “The Marblous”, the one-of-a-kind hospitality heaven, dedicated to the needs and wants of every modern female traveler! It is true, there is such a place in Athens! In the heart of the capital, just 300 meters from Syntagma Square, and yet “protected” from the noise of the city and the drills that work busily to transform the square, it is a place that leaves its intense female mark as soon as you cross its door.
The dusty pink velvet sofas, its cozy and comfortable little corners of the breakfast bistro, the platters where fine viands are served, the a la carte menu offering also vegan or gluten-free breakfast options and the china cups filled with steaming premium tea varieties, and the bubbles trembling behind the goblets held by delicate fingers, everything welcomes you warmly in a universe that keeps its promise to spoil every woman. Female-friendly experience
Before we take the lift to our room, we couldn’t help but walk near the lobby and discuss with the inspirer of this innovative concept, the hotel manager Sophie Vrind. “The hotel has been open for less than year. Specifically, we opened in June of 2021. It was a great challenge for me, as another hotel was housed in the building and it was totally different from what “The Marblous” offers, both as regards aesthetics and services. As you understand, I had to make a powerful rebranding that not only would create a completely different concept, but also something unique among all the other boutique hotels in Athens. So, I had to think -mainly as a woman- of what I seek when I visit another destination and what is missing in Athens. A hotel that would focus on the needs and the wants of modern women, no matter which role they play in their life (mother, wife, solo, friend) and, of course, regardless of whom they travel with…”
Marblous+Marvelous= MARBLOUS
The pastel hues, the curved and even shapes, the modern design, the comfortable bed mattresses, the full-length mirrors dedicated to every woman that loves herself, and the pink-toned marbles (hence the name “Marblous”, after the combination of marble+marvelous) create a setting of effortless luxury and relaxation that has every reason to boast of its 25 rooms and suites such as the famous “The Marblous Queen”, as well as its privileged location providing direct access to the most popular sites, restaurants serving international cuisines, neighbourhoods and entertainment spaces in Athens. However, the biggest surprise comes a little after to confirm that details always make the difference. In the rooms, there is a welcome gift (a bottle of sparkling rosé) for guests, as well as a wide variety of amenities, such as aromatic body washes, body creams, cosmetics and also makeup products (a nail polish or lip gloss with their shades changing depending on the season), while baby care products are also available if you travel with your baby!
Even in the breakfast bistro that will soon welcome its brunch menu (ideal for the lovers of nightlife who want to enjoy their breakfast carelessly), “we serve treats arriving in stands full of various viands such as cheese platters, side dishes for your tea, and more.”, says Mrs Vrnd at AUH. As for its services? They have been created in the same philosophy and include from a private shopper, cooperation with a hair and beauty salon, relaxation in Hammam, biking tours, private transfer for professional dates, daily trips, and activities like cooking lessons, wine tasting experiences, and many more.

Sophie was so right when she said that “you won’t see anything in The Marblous if you don’t tour the MARBLOUS QUEEN”. The two-storey suite stretching to 45 square meters is a tribute to royal comforts! Its hidden gem is nothing but its Jacuzzi standing out on the 2nd floor offering unobstructed views of the Acropolis…
Last but not least, we definitely had to ask her if there was a review that had made her particularly proud and she immediately answered “how emotional a guest of ours was when we made her a breakfast birthday surprise before she left, as well as the praising reviews by some guests from Israel who had booked the entire hotel and wrote that this was the best boutique hotel they had ever stayed”!
