Brown Hotels is an international hospitality group that comes from Israel. It is also the brand that entered the hotel map of Greece in a particularly dynamic way in 2019. The chain’s ambition is not only to show tourists the real culture and creativity of the city’s population, but also to expand the nightlife and neighborhood joints for locals. Their moto? “We enjoy doing things differently”! At the moment, Brown Hotels Collection includes 12 resorts all over Greece, 6 of which are located in Athens, while it continues to expand! Among those situated in the capital, is the newly launched Brown Spices, which is the only one we have not tried yet (so stay tuned!). But when it comes to the rest, we have stayed in every single one of them, and we are in place to present them to you! Here it goes:
BROWN ACROPOL
START-UP: It launched during 2019, on the premises of the formerly widely known and historic “Acropol Grecotel”.
LOCATION: In the centre of the capital’s commercial and business district, right on Omonia Square. Specifically, you can find its entrance just 2” away from the square, on the busy and well-known Panagi Tsaldari Avenue, which connects the center of Athens with the port of Piraeus!
The rooftop
STAY: We stayed inside a Deluxe room with Balcony & View and we were mostly impressed by the comfy beds and luxurious bathrooms. The interiors are based on a retro aesthetic, seasoned with a modern sense of upscale leisure and lifestyle comfort. A special touch is the message “Come to bed, sexy!” that signalise our room, but we also totally loved the disco ball that dazzled us at the lounge. Allergy-free, interconnected rooms and last but not least, rooms that can accomodate people with disabilities are available, as well.

BEST ROOM: Undeniably the Presidential Suite, where classic wooden surfaces, retro-inspired patterns and serious 60s vibes blend with the absolute state-of-the-art of audio-visual equipment. A total of 90sqm on the 8th floor that can host up to 4 guests in utter comfort!
BREAKFAST: The richest breakfast imaginable, with the most delicious variety of savory and sweet flavors, is served with an awesome view, in the restaurant on the 9th floor from 07:30 up to 12:00. You can also try light snacks there during the day.
WHAT’s MORE?
- Ideal for social events and business meetings, as it has conference facilities that can accommodate up to 400 people.
- The lobby bar serves drinks in an elegant and welcoming corner, next to the iconic library of the Brown Hotels Collection.
- The Rooftop Bar Restaurant on the 9th floor offers a unique culinary experience with the view of the iconic Acropolis! On summer the bar stays open till late at night.

GOOD TO KNOW
- Spa services are available upon request by professionals massage therapists. So you can choose a treatment by candlelight and relaxing music. Nevertheless the spa at the Brown Acropol is the perfect place to enjoy a Hot-Tub, a dry Sauna and a Hammam.
- Alongside a stylish open-air rooftop bar, you can find sunbeds, hammocks, outdoor showers and the hotel’s highlight – 4 outdoor hot-tubs, overlooking the endless views, though one has to pass through the restaurant to get there.
- The Brown’s’ intimate fitness room is located on the rooftop facing the view, and is great for morning and evening workouts.

BROWN LIGTHOUSE ATHENS
START-UP: Bold and extrover, the city hotel Brown Lighthouse Athens, attractes each guest from the entrance. It introduced itself to audience in October 2021 with a spectacular opening event of 10 hours duration. It opened next April.
LOCATION: A few minutes away from all the major hot-spots and business attractions in Athens, on the most famous square of all and with a metro station just below your feet! Accessible through the pedestrian Marikas Kotopouli Str.
STAY: Baroque elements blend with smooth textures and create the perfect mix-and-match with the utterly contemporary feel of Brown Lighthouse Athens! The 199 rooms, spread over ten floors, are of extraordinary Victorian and unique industrial design and can satisfy even the most demanding visitors, as did room 606, the one we stayed in! We also noticed that rooms for PWD are available.

BEST ROOM: By far the Grand Suite where extravagance is packed with every single comfort. It features a walk-in closet, free standing bath, balcony with view of the Lycabettus Hill, private cocktail bar, fireplace and a vintage work station in case you feel work-sick!
BREAKFAST: From 7:00 – 11:00 on the 1st floor, breakfast is served and get prepared for exuberance! And don’t be surprised that you will find the chef there: his mission concerns all the preparations that can be made in your presence!
WHAT’s MORE?
- Wellness appointments available daily 10.00-19.00.
- The Gym is on the first floor for those who enjoy keeping the energy pumping.
- At the Rooftop Bar Restaurant you can try the chef’s suggestions on Mediterranean cuisine with a twist, but also with a 360° panorama of Athens and the Acropolis, as well as Omonia Square.
- On the rooftop there is also a plunge pool with staggering views of the city, along with hot tubs.

START-UP: The famous Villa Brown Ermou, the “crème de la crème” of finesse, opened its doors during 2021. Nowadays, it is expanding, a fact that increases our impatience about the outcome!

STAY: Each room is carefully curated, following a signature black and pink scheme with copper accents. BEST ROOM: Definitely the Deluxe room with balcony. Exquisitely located, this 23sqm room overviews a charming little pathway, and some of the trendiest cafes in town. It showcases a contemporary view on Belle Epoque with elegant dashes of copper tints.
BREAKFAST: Start your day by choosing among luscious options of the standard breakfast served on a traditional tray, from 7:00 to 11:00 and relax in the opulent atmosphere of the elegant and flavorful bistro! Otherwise, taste the à la carte breakfast/lunch menu, or just the cold bites, available also to non guests.
WHAT’s MORE?
- Coming Soon: an expansion of the hotel has been planned for 2024 with the addition of an adjacent building. Afterwards, spa services tailored to your wishes will be available, along with a charming in-house gym, fully equipped to cover your every need. Last but not least a rooftop bar will be hosting intimate moments and endless nights drenched in champagne with the astonishing view of the Acropolis. DAVE RED ATHENS – SON OF A BROWN
START-UP: On July 2021, Dave Red Athens-Son of a Brown was the new arrival presented to travellers, and proved to be quite more daring and cheekier than its predecessor. In fact it proved to be unorthodox, quirky and truly unconventional, but also central, urban and fun!
LOCATION: Just 2 blocks down from Omonia Square, on Veranzerou str., a noted traffic artery of Athens. A few minutes walk away from the hotel you will find yourself in Omonia Square or the Central Market of Athens or Psyrri neighbourhood or Kerameikos. The underground character of the area fits the hotel’s personality!

STAY: The room are of exquisite urban design with funky props and the vintage playroom really appealed to us! We tasted the Queen size comfy bed with prime quality mattress, dressed in top-notch linens inside this industrial type of a hotel and we recommend it!

BROWN KUBIC
START-UP: This boutique hotel was inaugurated during 2021.
LOCATION: Right by the iconic National Theatre of Athens, on Agiou Konstantinou str. (an historic road of the capital), and only a few steps away from the renovated Omonia Square, you will find the as-smart-as-it-gets Brown Kubic.
STAY: We definitely got a thrill out of our Urban City View room of urban chic design and tech-focused attitude. Bright and airy, it opened up to a floor-to-ceiling window, gazing straight at the city. And for us who needed to work, an utterly comfy desk arrangement came handy, found in every room. Moreover, true to Brown philosophy, Brown Kubic offers rooms for PWD.
ROOM TYPES: 112 rooms that range from Urban, to Urban City View, Urban Large City View, Urban Balcony City View, Urban Triple City View, Urban Family.

BEST ROOM: Difficult choice but we made it: Urban Large City View came first due to its stunning city view through the floor-to-ceiling window, along with Brown’s signature green and earthy tones. We did enjoy controling the room temperature and lighting from our in-room Samsung tablet.
