For each one of the above reasons, Mitsis Hotels’ recent announcement regarding a new investment caught up everyone’s interest. We are referring of course to the restoration and renovation of the Schliemann-Mela Mansion on Panepistimiou str. in order to convert it into a 5-star hotel. The four-story mansion was designed by German architect Ernst Ziller and built in the late 1800s. Moreover, the hotel group mentioned it will utilize the building with respect to its history, as well as the neighboring structures. The Schliemann-Mela Mansion is part of a complex of 4 buildings erected by Schliemann. However, it includes an additional building in the vacant lot, which was not built in the same period, and which houses the IDEAL cinema hall.
